UAPO FILMS, Kupuna  Film Series

Everyone has a story to tell.  'Uapo' means Bridge in the Hawaiian language. Uapo Films Bridges the gaps between the past, the present and the future.     In 2007, Renate created Uapo Films while living in Hawaii. She taught young people the art of documentary storytelling.  This intergenerational  process of storytelling allows young people the ability to hear the histories of the elders, perhaps, for the first time.   They are able to see how they overcame disturbances, insecurities and obstacles in their live's.  They learn where they come from and gain strength from the determination and triumphs of their ancestors.  Uapo Films gives the elders an opportunity to share their life's stories, their life's  legacies,  for generations to come.
